There is a joint “Southwest Women’s Soccer General” calendar as well as individual calendars for each team. The website main page has all of the calendars combined.
Put all tryout information and general program events (Chipotle night, senior night, banquet, etc) on the general calendar.
Preface each specific team event with the team name, e.g. “V Practice” or “JVB Game vs….” so that it is easy to tell which team it is for on the joint calendar (each team also has its own color)
At the start of the season, enter all scheduled games as provided by the coach. There are often a lot of changes and discrepancies between the schedule the coaches have and the schedule on the Mpls City Athletic calendar. I usually go through it and ask the coach about any discrepancies I see. There is a link to the Mpls City calendar both on our soccer website and the school website under athletics.
Contact team parents and coaches and ask that they include you in any team communications about schedule changes so that the calendar can get updated
Website
The website is a Weebly site. Michele Lieske at [email protected] has the login and password.
Before the season I create an “archive” section for the previous year and copy the four team pages there. I also copy any blurbs about events that I might want to reuse, then clear all of the details from the event pages and team pages.
Basically it’s just putting team photo, roster, game results (contact team parents to send you the scores), photos, etc on the team pages, and then filling in each event page with the details for that event. It’s nice if the front page has a list of upcoming events, current volunteer needs and anything else that needs to be accessed frequently.
As events approach, there might be a volunteer spot link that needs to be added. This is usually sent over by the event chair.
There is a joint calendar on the front page, and each of the team pages has a calendar specific to their team which also includes the Southwest Women’s Soccer General calendar. These calendars are put together in the google calendar site and put into the website as an iframe.
As people volunteer for lead roles, add them to the booster page
